CARVED ROCKS ON THE NAM OU RIVER
In the section for Pictures of Places of our October Number we gave an illustration of " Fantastic Landscape on the Nam Ou " ; we also then promised that we should give a page illustrating the curious carved rocks which are to be found on the same river, and therefore now have much pleasure in doing so. The natives, curiously enough, do not acknowledge this as their own work, although it is perfectly well known as such, and the authors of these curious carvings have cut their rocks in such a manner that the particular shape given can be discerned only at a distance. Thus, for a distance of several miles, the rocks are fantastically carved, the sight of which, it is said by travellers, is absolutely unique.
