A little about us:
Greetings from Jarrow in the North-East of England!
Our home is just a few minutes from the Monastery of Saint Paul, once home to the Venerable Bede.
Also very near to where the unfortunate William Jobling was gibbeted , the last man to be thus condemned on English soil.
Also next door to the biggest Engineering project in the UK, the Second Tyne Tunnel!
Julian & Gina have been selling books online for some years..(Sister Bookshop coming soon), and along the way have accrued quite a collection of interesting and visually stunning material, in the form of maps, book and magazine illustrations, posters, advertising from rare periodicals, newspapers, catalogues and the like, which we think you will enjoy. These are mostly of an "Antique" or "Vintage" genre, and are the original articles, not in any way a modern reprint. These are packed full of character and charm, and make splendid decorative items.
These have been salvaged, over the years, from cast-offs, damaged books, collections from dealers and auction houses, and various assorted dusty forgotten corners.
They can make splendid Gift Items for others, as well as brightening up a part of your own home!
About the prints:
Most are supplied mounted, matted, and ready to easily insert into a frame of your choice - this will be evident from the clickable images.
Others are supplied dry-mounted onto heavy acid-free paper, ready to mat and frame - mentioned in the "Item Specification"
Some of the prints on our site are supplied unmounted and unmatted - this will be also mentioned in the "Item Specification" or description.
All the materials we use in putting together your mounted and matted print are acid free and ph-neutral.
We include a barrier layer of Daler art paper between your print and the backing board, which ensures your print "sandwich" will
give you years of viewing pleasure with little opportunity for contamination.
We try to keep the mount colour as neutral as possible, and of a light shade, whilst in keeping with the print, so as to make the display possibilities more versatile.
Many will be Antique off-white, pale Cream or a mild Oatmeal shade, for example, which usually display very well in any background.
Some of the Children's prints may have a pink or yellow shade of mat.
All our mounted and matted items will fit conveniently into a commonly available sized frame from your local shopping area.
Commonly found sizes of frame are 9" x 7", 8" x 10", 10" x 12", 11" x 14".
