The important city and fortress of Namur, the capital of the province of the same name, is picturesquely situated at the junction of the Sambre and the Meuse. and derives considerable advantages from its position on these two navigable rivers. The town is overlooked by the imposing mass of rocks and huh walls of the old citadel. The latter was lately transformed into a spacious park of over 150 acres, accessible by road and by electric tram; at the summit there is a lance magnificent stadium where Olympic games, opera performances, horse shows etc.. take place frequently during the season. Its beautiful situation and surroundings render Namur a favourite place of residence.
